Lord Ganesh is reclining on an intricately carved throne. Located
on the lower left and right corner are two makaras, a Sanskrit word
which means "sea dragon" or "water-monster". Makaras are said to
offer protection from evil spirits and are often seen on temple roofs
and the entrance of doorways.
