In Buddhism, the conch shell is a
symbol of the proclamation of the Buddha's teachings. The conch
represents the sound of the Dharma reaching far and wide, awakening
beings from ignorance. It is one of the 7 auspicious symbols in Buddhism.
In Asia, the conch has long been used
as a battle horn. In the Hindu epic The Mahabharata, the sound of the
hero Arjuna's conch terrorized his enemies. In ancient Hindu times a
white conch also represented the Brahmin caste.
Quartz crystal clusters are strong
amplifiers of energy and are often used in healing rooms by
alchemical healing practitioners. Its metaphysical purposes are vast,
from helping to expand consciousness to facilitating open
communication and stimulating the chakras.
This conch is decorated with filigree,
an ornamental work of fine electric plated silver wire which is
formed into delicate tracery.
