Description
Vajradhara is the celestial progenitor of the Kagyu order and of
Mahamudra practice. Observing traditional iconographic depictions of
the deity, he holds a bell and dorje in his hands, symbols of wisdom
and compassion.
Vajradhara is richly adorned with a crown, an elaborate pendant necklace, earrings which consist of large lotus discs, and a flowing scarf which drapes the shoulders, looping at the elbow and falling to the single lotus throne. His eyes are held in a compassionate gaze. His body sways elegantly to the right and the legs are drawn into an adamantine posture. The full lower garment is drawn across the legs and over the lotus seat and the hem is finely engraved with floral borders.
