Description
This macassar ebony wooden Buddha statue is seated in dhyana asana, the meditative pose also called padmasana. His hands are in the earth touching gesture also known as bhumisparsha mudra. The Buddha is always depicted with elongated earlobes, a vestige of his life as a prince, when he wore extravagant jewelry. The deep sharp colors of this piece are absolutely stunning.
