Description
This hand carved teakwood Burmese Buddha statue has a peaceful disposition. The piece has a subtle gold wash applied over a thin base of reddish lacquer.
Lord Buddha sits atop a double lotus throne in the earth touching gesture, bhumisparsha mudra.
The condition of this piece is remarkably good for its age. There is a crack on the lower part of the lotus base in the front center and back, as well as some small damage to the back of the right shoulder. Otherwise, the figure is robust and intact.
This one of a kind statue was hand carved by a very talented artist in the beautiful country of Myanmar (Burma). Every piece is truly unique!
