A serene, golden, Ava period wooden
Burmese Buddha statue seated in bhumisparsha mudra (calling earth to
witness) on a double lotus throne. The Buddha's face is beautifully
shaped and the eyes are are downcast, typical of Ava period Burmese
Buddha statues. This piece is carved out of one solid piece of
teakwood and it's crown is decorated with glistening glass mosaic.
The finely modeled head radiates meditative inwardness. An
exceptional collector's piece!
